Welcome to my website. I am excited about the upcoming school year. The purpose of this website is to provide my students with a place to check homework assignments, class news, and upcoming projects. I have provided a link for each class. There you will find the necessary resources to help you be succeessful. If a student is absent, it is the responsibility of the student to see what was covered on the day the student was absent.
I have two sets of objectives for my classes: course goals (content area) and learning goals. The course goals are what I want the students to learn related to the curriculum. The learning goals, however, are what I want the students to learn that are not related to the curriculum. These are just as important as the course goals because the learning objectives are what students can use them in other areas of their lives.
The Partnership for 21st Century Skills organization claim that "In an increasingly complex, demanding and competitive 21st century, students need to learn more than the 3R’s they are tested on in school. It’s time to help them go “above & beyond.” The following are the skills, knowledge and expertise that students should master in order to succeed in both work and life skills:
- Information Literacy
- Media Literacy
- ICT Literacy
- Flexibility and Adaptability
- Initiative and Self-Direction
- Social and Cross-Cultural Skills
- Productivity and Accountability
- Leadership and Responsibility
For the ease of my students, I turned the the skills, knowledge and expertise that students should master into pdf files from the following websites:
I set up my class environment and projects to help my students develop the necessary skill set to successfully maneuver through the 21st Century.
